Research

Who am I? What can I become? Questions drive Boo Shvartsman’s research. Pain, beauty, rebirth, and memory run through a transdisciplinary practice that examines duality, time, and the possibilities of consciousness. In search of answers, the artist explores what the body, image, and matter can reveal.

Between rupture and permanence, what emerges when it is no longer possible to exist as before?

For Boo, art begins with the selection of raw materials, which are as significant as the final composition. A background in jewelry and fashion, complemented by studies in gemology and experience with precious and semiprecious gemstones, metals, color grading, and textile surfaces, has shaped these choices, with an emphasis on longevity and quality.

The precious quality of the works begins with the choice of materials and is heightened by visceral subjects.
